Skill: Copywriting (from skills.sh)

Pre-Writing Checklist
Before writing, gather context across 4 areas:
- Goal of the page/listing — page type and the user's main action
- Audience — ideal customer, problems, objections, their language
- Product/Offer — what you're selling, what sets you apart, the transformation, the proof
- Context — where the traffic comes from, what the user already knows
Core principles
| Principle | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Clarity Over Cleverness | Clarity > Cleverness. When you must choose, choose clarity | |
| Benefits Over Features | Focus on outcomes, not on what the product "does" | |
| Specificity Over Vagueness | Concrete metrics instead of "boost efficiency" | |
| Customer Language | Use the words customers themselves use to describe their problems | |
| One Idea Per Section | Each section = one argument, logical flow |
Writing style
- Simple language ("use" not "utilize")
- Specific terms (avoid "streamline", "optimize")
- Active voice ("we generate" not "reports are generated")
- Confident tone (remove qualifiers: "very", "almost", "a bit")
- Show results instead of declaring them
- Only honest claims
Page/listing structure
Above the Fold (visible without scrolling):
- Headline: Main value proposition — specific > generic
- Subheadline: Expands the headline in 1-2 sentences
- Main CTA: Action-oriented with clear value
Main sections:
- Social Proof — building credibility
- Problem/Pain — show that you understand the problem
- Solution/Benefits — 3-5 key benefits
- How It Works — 3-4 steps
- Objection Handling — FAQ, guarantees
- Final CTA — summary + risk reduction
CTA (Call to Action)
Weak CTAs (avoid):
- Submit, Sign Up, Learn More, Click Here
Strong CTA pattern:
[Action verb] + [Concrete value] + [Optional qualifier]
Examples:
- "Start My Free Trial"
- "Get the Complete Checklist"
- "Download Free Budget Template"
- "Track Your First App Now"
Application in ASO
App title:
- Treat it like a headline — clear value proposition
[Brand] – [Benefit]
Short description (Google Play, 80 characters):
- Treat it like a subheadline — expands the title
- One specific benefit + implied CTA
First paragraph of the description:
- Treat it like Above the Fold — hook + problem + value
- The key 3 lines before "Read More"
Screenshot captions:
- Treat them like benefit bullets — short, specific benefits
- "Save 2h weekly" > "Time management"
